Welcome

Born in South Africa in 1981, an interest and passion for the natural world has always been with me. My earliest artistic inclinations were evidenced by drawings of wildlife created during family trips to the African bush. I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity of living in the Kruger National Park, a perfect foundation for my chosen subject. It was there that my journey began.

I draw my inspiration from nature, and have always been intrigued at the small details within each animal. I enjoy the challenge of working these details with my paintbrush, often spending hours on a small section, trying to get the pattern and texture perfected. These are the driving forces behind my paintings and I am always striving with each new work of art to gain perfection of the chosen animal.

I make use of a cinematic cropping of the animals, sometimes using the perimeter of the canvas to achieve a feeling of the subject being up close and personnel. I strip everything back so that the sole focus of the painting is the chosen animal, therefore enhancing their unique spirits and immortalising a moment from their lives onto canvas.

I hope you enjoy the following samples of my work.
